The year of luxury tourism

The economic growth recorded in 2017 was far from that expected by companies from virtually all segments. However, once again, the tourism sector has demonstrated that it is one of the main development vectors of today and closed the year with a positive balance.

And for the luxury tourism enthusiast, the good news is that the industry has risen more than 60% over last year. According to a study by Travel Leaders Group, which conducted interviews with travel agents operating in the high-end segment, the luxury tourism market grew by 63.6% compared to 2016.

“Given the strong US economy, it’s no surprise that our agents are seeing a higher level of luxury bookings compared to last year. Some people are stepping up their vacation to include high-quality accommodations and unique experiences, and other simply are making more trips because of their confidence in the economy, “said Ninan Chacko, CEO of Travel Leaders Group.

Among the aspects that stood out in the segment this year was precisely the valuation of the experiences during the trips. The routes that transcend the conventional and seek cultural, gastronomic or adventure aspects gained importance when buying a package tour.

In all, more than 1,1 thousand travel agents were interviewed in the United States, and the general observation was that, in fact, 2017 was an excellent year for luxury tourism.
