Chef João Melo signs the new exclusive menu of Restaurant Pergula

The Pergula restaurant, located on the edge of Belmond Copacabana Palace’s iconic swimming pool, has just launched a new menu, the first signed by the current chef, João Melo. From Pernambuco family, João dedicates his professional inspiration to his grandmother, responsible for always providing meetings and good table to family members. At the encouragement of his sister, who already noticed John’s interest in the kitchen, he got his first internship as a cook 17 years ago. Since then, it has gone through several renowned restaurants in the Rio de Janeiro gastronomic scene and even the cuisine of a sophisticated pousada in Trancoso, Bahia.

“My story with Pérgula restaurant is old, I learned a lot here, I improved myself professionally and today I feel prepared for this new challenge”, reveals João.
